Very quick and distant photo shot of a Kingfisher at the Top Lake |
Today was pretty much dry apart from some thick mist that settled in the afternoon. Sightings today included a Kingfisher at the top lake, which posed ever so briefly before heading off over the nearby pasture field, but nevertheless, although it was a bit distant it was still a very good photographic record for this somewhat difficult species. Others noted was a singing Chiffchaff still at the bottom lake, also 2 Water Rails, a Jack Snipe, 1 Teal, 6 Redwings, a nice flock of 177 Fieldfares, 136 Mediterranean Gulls, 10 Coots, 8 Moorhens, 1 Grey Heron, 44 Starlings, 11 Mallards, 2 Little Grebes, 29 Meadow Pipits, 2 Skylarks, 10 Goldcrests, 5 Treecreepers
