Beachborough Park

Beachborough Park is located just outside FolkestoneKent, near Newington and Etchinghill. The property is a small private Estate consisting of the main house, eleven other properties, woodland, lakes, pasture land and a walled garden ready for restoration, in all approximately 30 acres and surrounded by pasture land and the hills of the North Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Only 500 metres away is the entrance to the Channel Tunnel and the story of how we didn’t become part of that development we will tell at a later date.

The History of the property goes back centuries. At one time one of the largest Estates in Kent, the home of the Brockmans, later the Drake-Brockmans, later still Lloyd George, then a Canadian Military Hospital, then for 20 years a private school and more recently Gordon Wallis and his family’s home for over 20 years.

The detailed life of the property will be revealed as time goes on, as will details of Mr Gordon Wallis's life-long passion “Sport”. He possesses a very large collection of Sporting Memorabilia.   Stories of this, its acquisition, its history, etc., will also be found in the future on this site.

And, finally, we have a dream and that is to use the site for educational purposes.  To introduce people to the wildlife that Beachborough is home to, for example the Important Toad Colony and the only site in Kent, as far as we know, with Toad Tunnels.  For the last six months we have been carrying out surveys and will do so for the next six months. The surveys will cover all aspects of wildlife found on the site, at the present moment it is Moth Lamping, soon the Bat Survey, etc.  We will keep you up to date with most of our findings.

We welcome comment, so please do not hesitate to contact us on any aspect of the site.  Our e-mail address is beachboroughpark@talktalk.net
