The best bird without a doubt was a Marsh Tit which was seen at the bottom lake this morning, and is the 2nd record for the site. It was a lovely sunny day, and the birds were showing pretty well especially 4 Redpolls which were seen at the bottom lake with one pretty close in the open, there was also 2 Firecrests still present, 1 bird up the top lake with the other at the bottom lake. Bearded Tit, only the 2nd record for the site was briefly seen again at the bottom lake late in the afternoon, there was also 4 Firecrests on site retaining a very good autumn for the species. Bearded Tit 1st site record (heading high west over the Bottom Lake)

Yellowhammer (Pasture Field)
WOW what a fantastic day for birds on site with a total of 63 different species seen (A new site record), and this was down to a new change in wind direction, a north westerly wind which is very good for bird migration during this time of the year. There was also 2 new bird species for the site which included a female Goshawk which headed south/west over the pasture field, and a Bearded Tit which headed high west over the bottom lake (hence record photo shot). It was a fairly quiet day due to the wind being in the wrong direction for bird migration, but there was at least 2 Firecrests still present by the main house to cheer things up, and the Little Owl was seen again in the pasture field. Young Robin and Green Woodpecker (Pasture Field)

Once again the Little Owl was seen in the pasture field, also a Firecrest was still present by the main house and hopefully may just overwinter. There was still a few Swallows and House Martins moving through with about 100 of each heading west. Little Owl (Pasture Field)
For the first time in weeks a Little Owl was seen in the pasture field and there was a very good total of 5 Firecrests still present by the main house. A look around the bottom lake produced a flyover Green Sandpiper and 2 Dunlin which were flushed by the reedbed. Whinchat (Bottom Lake)
Another good day with good spells of sunshine along with some nice sightings. A Kingfisher showed on and off at the top lake, and it was busy on site elsewhere with 2 Whinchats, 1 Red-legged Partridge, 1 Grey Partridge,  2 Grey Herons, 7 Mediterranean Gulls south14 Whitethroats, 12 Chiffchaffs, 11 Blackcaps, 3 Willow Warblers, and 7 Reed Warblers. Willow Warbler (Walled Garden)
A much better day with good spells of sunshine, it was busy on site today and the sightings included 3 Grey Herons, 8 Mediterranean Gulls south16 Whitethroats, 16 Chiffchaffs, 13 Blackcaps, 5 Willow Warblers, and 8 Reed Warblers. Corn Bunting (Pasture Field)
A day of heavy cloud and showers. Sightings today included a Kingfisher at the top lake, and an excellent total of 14 Bullfinches heading over the bottom lake. Others noted were a total of 10 Mediterranean Gulls which headed south mid morning, Warbler numbers was impressive with a count of 22 Whitethroats, 19 Chiffchaffs, 19 Blackcaps, 6 Willow Warblers, 3 Garden Warblers and 8 Reed Warblers. It was another good day and included a rather distant Red Kite which flew over the bottom lake mid morning also another 2 Mediterranean Gulls which headed west late morning, and a ShovelerIt was another good day for Mistle Thrushes with a total of 34 mainly over the pasture field by the bottom lake. Warblers today included 23 Whitethroats, 13 Chiffchaffs, 18 Blackcaps, 1 Willow Warbler and 9 Reed Warblers. Spotted Flycatcher (House & Woodland Area)
A much better day with good spells of sunshine, it was pretty busy at the bottom lake this morning which included 1 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant south, 2 Mediterranean Gulls south, alongside most of the warblers including an overall count of 16 Whitethroats, 16 Chiffchaffs, 13 Blackcaps, 5 Willow Warblers, and 8 Reed Warblers. A horrible day of heavy cloud and persistent showers, but it still produced some decent sightings. An interesting day with a couple of additions, and included 2 Red-legged Partridges which flew over the bottom lake, also 2 Mediterranean Gulls which headed west late morning. It was another good day for Mistle Thrushes with a total of 28 over the pasture field by the bottom lake. It was a day of sunshine and heavy showers, with most of the birds probably keeping a low profile. Highlight of the day was a very good total of 31 Mistle Thrushes which all headed east over the pasture field by the bottom lake. Generally it was another lovely day, but there was also the odd shower thrown in, however there was an excellent bird on site when a GREENISH WARBLER was heard calling on several occasions early afternoon mixed in with a party of 10 Long-tailed Tits and several Blue Tits high up in some tall Sycamore trees. This is the 2nd record for the site with the other sighting being in 2016. Today was hot but a bit more overcast, nevertheless it was a pretty good day with a nice few birds around. A Kingfisher was at the top lake and was the first sighting for a little while, there was also 3 Spotted Flycatchers near the main house, and a good total of hirundines, with 230 House Martins, 68 Swallows and 145 Swifts. Another very similar day in rather hot and pleasant conditions, there was now 2 Spotted Flycatchers at the top lake and a good number of Treecreepers with 13 present around the site. Today was very very similar in numbers to yesterday, with the exception of 35 Blackbirds, 8 Song Thrushes and 9 Mistle Thrushes. The Spotted Flycatcher remained at the top lake, and there was now 5 Ravens over the pasture fields. It was a very pleasant day with some lovely sunny spells, best of the day was a Spotted Flycatcher at the top lake, also a Kingfisher which was heard calling but not seen. At least 3 Ravens were noted over the pasture fields, and again there was a good number of 178 House Martins and 90 Swallows. Mallards (Bottom Lake)

There was an interesting record of a summer Water Rail at the bottom lake this morning, also a Kingfisher which passed through, and a probable Red Kite which was very high and distant. Other sightings included 13 Moorhens, 17 Mallards, 9 Reed Warblers, 6 Reed Buntings, 11 Common Buzzards, 5 Kestrels, 3 Ravens, a total 110 House Martins, 79 Swallows, 19 Linnets, 10 Goldcrests, 4 Grey Herons, 4 Bullfinches, 51 Goldfinches, 7 Blackcaps, 8 Chiffchaffs, 8 Whitethroats, 7 Green Woodpeckers, 6 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 6 Treecreepers, 5 Pied Wagtails, 3 Grey Wagtails, 9 Long-tailed Tits, 30 Chaffinches, 8 Mallards 91 Jackdaws, 31 Rooks, 8 Coal Tits, 10 Greenfinches, 43 Starlings, 3 House Sparrows, 12 Stock Doves, 3 Yellowhammers and 3 Nuthatches.

Wednesday 31st May


There was no sign of the Tufted Ducks today on another lovely sunny day, but instead there was a female Shoveler which headed west over the bottom lake, but it was a good day with a good number of thrushes, totals included 46 Blackbirds, 12 Mistle Thrushes and 11 Song Thrushes (The latter a good number these days). Other sightings included Grey Heron, 9 Moorhens, 6 Mallards, 6 Reed Warblers, 6 Reed Buntings and a Snipe still. Other sightings included 11 Common Buzzards, 5 Kestrels and 4 Hobbies (including 2 Juveniles), a total 81 House Martins, 62 Swallows, 9 Linnets, 13 Goldcrests, 2 Grey Herons, 7 Bullfinches, 15 Goldfinches, 7 Blackcaps, 12 Chiffchaffs, 8 Whitethroats, 7 Green Woodpeckers, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 6 Treecreepers, 9 Pied Wagtails, 3 Grey Wagtails, 9 Long-tailed Tits, 38 Chaffinches, 8 Mallards,  71 Jackdaws, 39 Rooks, 8 Coal Tits, 10 Greenfinches, 29 Starlings, 3 House Sparrows, 15 Stock Doves, 5 Yellowhammers and a Nuthatch.

Swallow (Bottom Lake)
The 2 Tufted Ducks were still present at the bottom lake this morning, which also produced a Cormorant heading west, a Grey Heron, 9 Moorhens, 11 Mallards, 6 Reed Warblers, 4 Reed Buntings and a Snipe. Tufted Ducks (Bottom Lake)
It was more overcast today but it did also have a nice few spells of sunshine. Best of the day was 2 Tufted Ducks which were present at the bottom lake, also around the site was a total of 8 Common Buzzards, 2 Kestrels and 4 Hobbies (including 2 Juveniles), a total 67 House Martins, 31 Swallows, 26 Linnets, 11 Goldcrests, 2 Grey Herons, 2 Cormorants, 6 Bullfinches, 32 Goldfinches, 6 Reed Warblers, 6 Blackcaps, 6 Chiffchaffs, 4 Whitethroats, 9 Green Woodpeckers, 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 6 Treecreepers, 7 Pied Wagtails, 3 Grey Wagtails, 17 Long-tailed Tits, 19 Chaffinches, 12 Mallards, 8 Moorhens, 4 Reed Buntings, 2 Ravens, 51 Jackdaws, 19 Rooks, 8 Coal Tits, 6 Greenfinches, 21 Starlings, 3 House Sparrows, 8 Stock Doves, 5 Yellowhammers and 2 Nuthatches.

Grey Heron (Bottom Lake)
It was another fairly good day with a good number and variety of raptors, these included a Red Kite south, 10 Common Buzzards,1 Peregrine south, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Kestrels and 2 Hobbies. there was also a good total of 156 House Martins, 44 Swallows and 90 Linnets. Other sightings included 8 Goldcrests, 1 Kingfisher at the bottom lake, 2 Grey Herons, 2 Cormorants, 6 Bullfinches, 32 Goldfinches, 6 Reed Warblers, 6 Blackcaps, 6 Chiffchaffs, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 4 Whitethroats, 6 Green Woodpeckers, 4 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 6 Treecreepers, 5 Pied Wagtails, 3 Grey Wagtails, 15 Long-tailed Tits, 12 Mallards, 11 Moorhens, 1 Coot, 4 Reed Buntings, 3 Ravens, 48 Jackdaws, 11 Rooks, 5 Coal Tits, 14 Greenfinches, 33 Starlings, 1 Grey Heron, 7 House Sparrows, 11 Stock Doves, 5 Jays, 3 Yellowhammers and 2 Nuthatches.

Wednesday 17th May

It was another very pleasant day, along with a good number of sightings which included 14 Common Buzzards, 2 Sparrowhawks, 2 Kestrels and 2 Hobbies. there was also a good total of 124 House Martins, 40 Swallows and 40 Linnets. Red Kite (Pasture Field)
It was a more overcast day today but still very humid. Best highlight was a Red Kite which headed west mid morning, and a Peregrine which headed north. Other sightings included 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 5 Whitethroats, 6 Reed Warblers, 5 Blackcaps, 1 Willow Warbler, 57 Swallows, 91 House Martins, 4 Ravens, 2 Cormorants, 2 Grey Herons, 6 Goldcrests, 40 Linnets, 5 Coal Tits, 6 Green Woodpeckers, 39 Goldfinches, 4 Reed Buntings, 4 Treecreepers, 7 Common Buzzards, 3 Grey Wagtails, 13 Chaffinches, 6 Long-tailed Tits, 11 Moorhens, 21 Mallards and 2 Pied Wagtails.

Thursday 11th May


Today was a lovely with glorious spells of sunshine, and in turn produced a good variety of birds. Of interest was the numbers of Chiffchaff's present with a total of 25 around the site, also a Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Whitethroats, 6 Reed Warblers, 5 Blackcaps and a Willow Warbler. Other sightings included 47 Swallows, 61 House Martins, 2 Ravens, 2 Cormorants, 2 Grey Herons, 3 Goldcrests, 22 Linnets, 5 Coal Tits, 6 Green Woodpeckers, 34 Goldfinches, 4 Reed Buntings, 4 Treecreepers, 4 Common Buzzards, 3 Grey Wagtails, 13 Chaffinches, 6 Long-tailed Tits and 2 Pied Wagtails.

Friday 5th May


It was another dull and miserable day but the bird sightings were not to bad, the first Swifts of the year arrived today with a total of 12 over the bottom lake, also the first Garden Warbler which was in the nearby pasture field. Other sightings included 35 Swallows, 15 House Martins, 3 Chiffchaff's, 5 Reed Warblers, 3 Whitethroats, 3 Blackcaps, 1 Raven, 2 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 3 Goldcrests, 10 Linnets, 3 Coal Tits, 3 Green Woodpeckers, 4 Goldfinches, 4 Reed Buntings, 2 Treecreepers, 2 Common Buzzards, 3 Grey Wagtails, 8 Chaffinches, 6 Long-tailed Tits and 2 Pied Wagtails.

Wednesday 3rd May


Shoveler (Bottom Lake)
It was a miserable day with heavy showers on and off, but at least there was a few migrants on site. Total's today included 3 Ravens over the bottom lake, 4 Common Buzzards, 1 Shoveler heading west, 1 Coot, 7 House Martins, 12 Swallows, 3 Reed Warblers, 3 Whitethroats, 1 Willow Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff's, 3 Blackcaps, 2  Grey Wagtails, 1 Yellowhammer, 1 Cormorant west, 1 Grey Heron, 3 Goldcrests, 3 Coal Tits, 3 Green Woodpeckers, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 10 Linnets, 3 Pied Wagtails, 6 Goldfinches, 1 Bullfinch, 4 Reed Buntings and 1 Treecreeper.   

Tuesday 14th March


Goldfinch (Pasture Field)
Today was beautiful with lovely sunshine and pretty warm to go with it, this in turn pleased the local Common Buzzards with a total of 6 birds soaring over the site, and 2 Sparrowhawks which was also a welcome sighting. There was now 2 White Wagtails present in the pasture field by the bottom lake, but only a single Chiffchaff today which was near the main house. Other sightings included 2 Ravens, 3 Grey Wagtails, 2 Nuthatches, 3 Treecreepers, 17 Mediterranean Gulls, 20 Linnets, 10 Fieldfares, 9 Redwings, 11 Long-tailed Tits, 5 Goldcrests, 3 Coal Tits, 3 Green Woodpeckers, 10 Pied Wagtails, 10 Goldfinches, 28 Chaffinches west, 51 Common Gulls, 1 Coot, 10 Moorhens, 10 Mallards and 1 Grey Heron.   

Monday 13th March


Grey Heron (Bottom Lake) 
At long last its back to the good old bird sightings for the site after a frustrating last couple of months, and the fist day back in 2 months was pretty good with 5 singing Chiffchaff's which is certainly the start of spring, also a White Wagtail which was showing in the pasture field by the bottom lake. A Woodcock was also flushed up at the top lake which was a nice surprise. Others noted included 5 Common Buzzards, 2 Nuthatches, 3 Treecreepers, 4 Goldcrests, 1 Little Owl, 10 Mediterranean Gulls, 56 Common Gulls, 1 Sparrowhawk, 30 Fieldfares, 6 Redwings, 2 Ravens, 10 Linnets, 90 Starlings, 2 Kestrels, 10 Chaffinches, 12 Long-tailed Tits, 1 Coot, 20 Mallards, 1 Cormorant west, 1 Grey Heron west, 3 Green Woodpeckers, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 3 Coal Tits, 3 Pied Wagtails, 2 Grey Wagtails and 11 Moorhens.
